ArtworkBetween the Lines…
A contemporary Greenlandic artist, Miki Jacobsen creates work that probes identity, memory, and the Arctic landscape. Ruby II goes beyond mere representation: it captures the tension between vernacular culture and industrial modernity, reflecting how Greenlanders assert their right to their own land and its resources.
Lyrical and airy, the canvas unfolds like a chromatic epic. Each layer, each subtle shift in tone, forms a visual composition where clouds and terrain resonate with the deep crimson stone. His mastery of acrylic, applied in long, flowing brushstrokes, imbues the work with a musical, introspective rhythm.
Jacobsen transforms landscape into mental space, mountain into memory. Through his critical vision, he offers a meditation on the present moment and its uncertainties.
